Why 'Mobility Mutt'?

Chances are you came here wondering what kind of a mutt the 'mobility mutt' is or because you are my family member or friend whom I forced (at gun point) to read it. Well, let me clear the air for you.

I, Nazreen Fazal, humble resident of my own world, am going for an exchange programme to UK. Our University calls it the 'Mobility' programme. I'll be spending one semester of my course studying there. How do I feel about it? Well, to be honest I am have mixed emotions about it. While I am really excited about exploring a new place (I LOVE travelling. Like seriously love it), I am also sad that I won't be seeing my friends here till September. Especially those friends who are in final year and won't be here when I come back. You know who you are- I love you people! It's sad that I got to know so many wonderful people towards the end of their final year...feel like kicking my self for not talking to them earlier!

Anyway, the name..well one of my close friends was mocking my upcoming transfer and called me the 'Mobility Mutt' which immediately caught my fancy. So, here is a blog about my adventures in the land of our colonisers! Hopefully I will be regular with this, if I stop posting understand that I have been deported for eating Thosai with my bare germ infested hands in front of appalled Britons. Ok, that was lame. Anyway.

This blog is also for those from my University who wish to go for the exchange programme. When I was going about applying my visa, looking for accommodation etc, I had very little guidance and was often frustrated with the way things were going. This blog may help you figure out some of the stuff you are supposed to do while applying for mobility, after you get accepted and what you need to do before leaving. And obviously, what you need to know once in UK.

This is the introductory post. Posts on visa application, pre departure need-to-knows will follow soon!!

Cheers then!
(Don't laugh. I need to practise from now!)

Disclaimer: 'Mutt' is not intended to offend anyone. And no, I am not degrading myself. It's funny, so just laugh and be quiet, child!
